ABOUT US

WELCOME TO MELANCOOSE -
”THE MILL OF THE WOOD”

We’re a family-run health, wellbeing, and mindfulness getaway immersed in tranquil woodlands just two miles from Newquay. Set in and around our Grade II-listed wood mill (said to be one of the oldest working mills in Cornwall) - we aim to bring people closer to nature so they can develop their physical, mental, and spiritual health.

WHAT ARE WE ABOUT?

We collaborate with local practitioners, creatives, and communities and offer individuals and groups a range of affordable workshops that are rooted in creativity, nature, health, fitness, and wellbeing. From supper clubs to yoga retreats, art workshops to sauna ceremonies - our venue offers the perfect space for small-scale gatherings surrounded by nature.

WHAT ARE OUR FACILITIES?

We’ve restored our old wood mill barn with modern wellness in mind, but without compromising its magic and history. Our studio is a 120m2, flood-lit space with beautiful beams, wooden floors and high spec audio. The adjacent 25m2 snug is perfect for communal dining and creative meetings, with a large farmhouse table for 10 and comfortable seating.

Our woodland spa area features an eight-person hot tub, ten-person sauna, cold plunge pool, outdoor shower and firepit. We have two spacious changing rooms and toilets.

WHERE ARE WE?

We’re in a unique situation, one that’s completely peaceful yet easily accessible. While the quiet woods beside Porth Reservoir are our home, our small village of Colan is just two miles from the bustle and beautiful beaches of Newquay.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

Our venue is available to hire in the following ways:

Woodland Spa - hire the whole area for a private and peaceful wellness experience.
Studio Hire - hourly/half day/full day rental available for workshops & retreats.
Whole venue hire - for small-scale weddings, events, photo shoots, location use & more.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

We’re looking for partners that can use our space for their wellbeing practices, and who we can collaborate with to curate a diary of intimate and small-scale events.

We’re very much looking forward to hearing from practitioners and groups from marginalised communities who can help us improve access to the outdoors for all.

Drop us a line on 07979 307056 or email us on info@melancoose.com and let’s talk - ideally in the sauna.
